Partner City Update - Chicago: after all the positive meetings in August, we're now integrating the news that Mayor Daley is not seeking reelection. The AAW plans already underway will wait till after the election, but new meetings with Chicago city unions, city staff, funders and artists are being set-up for mid-December. Stay tuned.October includes an invitational trip to present at Taking Part, a conference across the pond hosted by University of London, Goldsmiths. Two of our buddies - Barbara Schaefer Bacon Co-Director at Animating Democracy and Michael Rohd from Sojourn Theatre will be presenting as well. A good opportunity to get the word and idea out about municipal governments partnering with artists, but also a chance to learn what's happening all over the UK, a leader in community arts or "Applied Arts" as they like to call it. And then back to NEA in November with Bill O'Brien, Senior Advisor for Program Innovation, Senior Deputy Chairman. And thanks to Providence's Department of Cultural Affairs, AAW will get to introduce AAW to Democratic Mayoral candidate Angel Taveras before his inauguration.
